PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In the spring of 2021, the University of Kentucky College of Medicine wanted to mark the return of its Match Day ceremony (a nationally held event where medical education graduates are matched with their future residency) with not only a cinematic documentary depicting a select group of students in the leadup and aftermath of their Match Day experiences but also with an expanded live-stream event that allowed remotes students to share in the excitement with their in-person counterparts on such a joyous occasion.
Media Collaboratory pre-produced in conjunction with UK COM the overall narrative of three parallel stories from a diverse set of students, and over the course of several days prior to Match day, we filmed multiple complex interviews and emotive b-roll of our hero students. Production concluded with a full crew covering Match Day with a three camera live broadcast to Youtube, Zoom, and in-room image magnification as well as interview/b-roll coverage from a separate film unit.
After production had wrapped, MC completed a quick turnaround to help deliver to the customer an emotive video that successfully carried over the buzz surrounding Match Day just in time for students to see before Graduation.
