University of Kentucky HealthCare Communications approached Media Collaboratory in 2017 about telling the story of how the Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Team (from their ambulance to their helicopter teams) not only seamlessly integrates within the entire UK HealthCare enterprise system but with rural healthcare systems throughout the commonwealth that further proves UKHC’s ‘Power of Advanced Medicine’ brand and its commitment to patient-centered care.
The client wanted the story to feel larger than life, almost as if we were filming an action movie, without feeling bombastic or over-the-top; at the end of the day, our “stars” are real life humans: the patients all across the Bluegrass who depend on these services in potentially dire times of need and the care providers who expertly and compassionately provide them under duress.
Media Collaboratory worked with the Communications team to scout and pre-produce the video’s story: the main spine of which almost allows the audience to view a “a day in the life” of the transport services team as they provide care, one of which featuring reenactments of patients to Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Over the course of two production days with a four person crew, Media Collaboratory filmed an intense production schedule featuring staged segments through the services offered by Transport Services, scripted parts filmed with a teleprompter, and various cinematic hero shots to present the teams as every day heroes that really do incredible things for the Commonwealth. Media Collaboratory also managed onset photography as well, both for behind the scenes and also photography to be used for UKHC’s digital and print campaigns.
Released later in the Spring of 2017, Kentucky Children’s Hospital Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Team remains one of the most viewed viewed on the UKHealthCare Youtube channel with almost 8K views and kickstarted off several other successful videos highlighting UKHC’s commitment to the Power of Advanced Medicine.
